Below are just some of the Science Activities we took part in as part of our Science Award application.
Below are four activities:

Activity 1
All Classes over two days
Share Science Education Day with Hunt N.S. as part of Peace IV Project

Biodiversity around our school with Martina from Heritage Ireland.

Activity 2:

Visiting Farm to our school

Junior Infants recorded what they saw at the visiting farm.

Activity 3

5th and 6th classes (Ms. Gilheaney's Class and 5th from Mrs. Shannon's along with Mrs Tuttle's Senior class from the Hunt N.S.)
Shared Education Field Trip with the Hunt N.S to the Burren and Marble Arch Caves.
The children took the iPads with them and recorded points of interest for us all to see here.

Activity 4
Science Week 2018-2019
All classes in the school took part in Science week.
Throughout the school all the strands of the science curriculum were covered.

Activity 5

Strand: Environmental Awareness and Care, Living Things
Strand unit: Environmental Awareness and Care, Caring for the locality, Plants and Animals
We had a visit from Inland Fisheries Ireland on May 1st. We had Éilish, the environmental officer give us a really interesting talk about the agency, it's work, our rivers and streams and wildlife and more. Her colleagues also showed us all about freshwater fish and bugs. We used nets, microscopes and magnifying glasses to inspect the many fish which can be found locally in our town and county. We saw roach, trout, pikes and more, We also saw lamprey and crayfish in preservation jars. These two fish are protected species.

Activity 6

Class: 2nd

Strand: Force

Strand Unit: Forces

Second class took part in lots of Force Activities as part of their STEM work including balloon rockets, airplanes and parachutes. It was great fun and they learned loads!
